Overview

Nestled in the heart of Bourke Street Mall, Melbourne, VB Rolls offers a genuine taste of Vietnamese street food that stands out amid the city’s bustling culinary scene. This unassuming spot brings the spirit of Vietnam’s vibrant deli culture straight to Australia’s urban core, serving up fresh, authentic dishes with care and precision.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the bánh mì. From the Jurassic Pork Bánh Mì to the classic Traditional Roll, each sandwich is a crafted harmony of textures and flavors: crisp French-style baguettes, tender meats, fresh herbs, and just the right balance of spice and tang. For those seeking plant-based options, the tofu roll remains a loyal customer's favorite, praised for its juiciness and satisfying taste. Alongside these sandwiches, the Roast Pork Salad Bowl and Banh Mì Combo offer hearty, fresh alternatives that showcase the brand’s versatility.

VB Rolls excels in providing a no-frills dining experience that focuses on authentic taste and high-quality ingredients rather than flashy presentation. The atmosphere is reminiscent of Vietnam’s open-air vendors — simple, bustling, and welcoming. Long communal tables invite diners to enjoy their meals amidst the casual hum of conversation, capturing a slice of Vietnamese communal dining culture. The space itself is functional and clean, reflecting a dedication to hygiene and efficiency.

This brand resonates with a broad audience: from busy lunch-hour workers craving quick, satisfying meals to food enthusiasts eager to experience traditional Vietnamese flavors in Melbourne’s city center. The friendly, attentive service adds a personal touch, with staff genuinely invested in customer satisfaction, often tailoring spice levels to suit individual preferences.

Complementing the food, their Vietnamese Iced Coffee is a refreshing companion, offering a bittersweet, creamy finish that rounds out the meal perfectly. Practical drink choices like soft drinks and iced lemon tea cater to a variety of tastes without overwhelming the core Vietnamese concept.

What sets VB Rolls apart is its commitment to authenticity without compromise. The generous portions, fresh ingredients, and well-balanced flavors provide a memorable dining experience that food lovers come back for time and again. Whether you’re nostalgic for Vietnam’s street food or discovering it for the first time, VB Rolls at Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall is a must-visit destination that delivers on both quality and value.

Fresh, delicious, reasonably priced Banh Mi. I've been getting a tofu roll here at least once a week for a few months. The tofu is always nice and juicey and food is ready quickly despite the lunch hour rush. Yum!

When you thought Vietnamese street food was officially overdone in Melbourne, along comes VB Rolls in Bourke Street Mall (yes, the Kmart Arcade — the food court you forgot existed) to prove you wrong. This tiny spot feels like one of the originals — no gimmicks, no Instagram props, just proper food made with care. You can tell they actually like their customers. They’ll even nod when you say “extra hot chilli and more,” though let’s be honest, they’ll quietly decide how much fire you can actually handle. For such a small shop, the quality is huge. Finally, a Vietnamese street food vendor that cares more about flavour and satisfaction than shaving grams of meat off your bánh mì. Word of warning: this place is becoming very popular. If you don’t want to be stuck watching someone else walk off with the last crispy pork roll, get in early. Your future self will thank you. Bottom line — Melbourne might be drowning in bánh mìs, but VB Rolls is the one you’ll actually dream about afterwards.

As close as you can get to Vietnamese deli food in Melbourne for $9. Opens 9am in morning. I had the Traditional Roll Banh Mi (think pork cold cuts sandwich). Delicious with Vienamese style cold cuts and lots of fresh salad, cliantro encased in a crusty French-Vietnamese loaf bun. Sit nearby the long common tables and listen to the chattering of Vietnamese ladies. Close your eyes and devour the banh mi and you almost feel like it's in Vietnam. Kudos to the team running this deli takeaway. Hygienic and clean kitchen. And very reasonably priced set meals from $12 to $15.50. A la carte bath mi (sandwiches) $7 to $10.50. Unbeatable prices for the portion and flavors they offer. Oh, if you like roast pork, the roast pork looks good too. Freshly made at the shop daily.

VB Rolls was great. The rice paper rolls were super fresh and everything tasted really clean and balanced. The fillings were generous and the textures were just right — soft rice paper, crisp veggies, and tender meat. The dipping sauce was a nice touch too. Definitely coming back for more.

Bunh mi is only $9.50! It’s a great option for those on a budget and it’s also healthy. The service is friendly and they have a delicious vb noodle box that comes with spring rolls. Definitely worth trying!
